On July 1, 2011, the Johnson family van was struck from behind by a speeding truck while returning from
a fireworks show. While the parents, Susie and David, riding in the front seat, only suffered minor injuries, Brooke, Kathryn, and Owen
were badly hurt. Hannah's injuries were too severe, and she did not survive the crash.
Brooke, Kathryn, and Hannah were all dancers at Nicole Cote School of Dance. In honor of 6 year old Hannah, a scholarship fund has
been organized through generous donations by patrons of Nicole Cote School of Dance. Patrons make scholarships possible for students by
furthering their dance education.
